Can't Watch it, Can't Help it
I can't watch The West Wing. Every time Martin Sheen opens his mouth, all I can hear is the voice-over from Apocalypse Now. Sorry Martin.

New Year's Resolution Update
I suppose it's time to review the resolutions I made last year, see where they stand, and announce this year's resolution.
Last Year's Resolutions
Last year I resolved to:
1. Eat one multivitamin (Flintstone's non-yucky non-old fart brand) each day
2. Only eat out for lunch twice a week
I also made a group resolution with my friends:
3. No trips to the emergency room.
Well, I failed miserably on the first two. Let's put it this way, I eat out for lunch practically every day, and I still have the same bottle of Flintstone's Vitamins that I had this time last year. What an utter loser.
BUT I DID uphold item #3. I did NOT have to make any trips to the Emergency Room, either for myself or for anyone I know. As far as I know, none of us did. So that's a good thing.
New Year's Resolutions I SHOULD Have Made (because I did them)
1. Take up knitting. I actually started knitting on January 1st last year, and I've been at it all year long. And still loving it and learning more and more.
2. Decide what I'm going to do with my life and get going on it. Kaloo Kalay, I actually figured out what I'm going to do with myself! I actually made a 5-year plan, AND I actually am doing it! In fact, I have Biology class today.
Just the fact that I accomplished those two things, actually #2 alone, is enough for me to feel fantastic about what I did this year. Who cares about vitamins and lunch?
This Year's New Year's Resolution
1. I resolve to compete in (and finish) a triathlon and not be last.
Ok, I'd already made up my mind to do that last year, but I'm making it my resolution too for the extra incentive. Which I could use cause I've let all of the progress I made training this summer slide right down the drain. Damn you Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's! Damn you sunless wintertime! You will not keep me down forever!
That's it. Oh, I intend to get all A's in school, and get better at knitting and guitar playing and smoke less, but the triathlon is my resolution this year. And BY GOD I WILL SUCCEED!!!

Monday Manners
From the chapter "In Dress and Personal Habits":
Don't be untidy in anything. Neatness is one of the most important of the minor morals.
This should actually be from the chapter "In General."
