Fetish
I think I could easily drop a couple grand at this store.

Bean is not the only one...
...who is tired of comments not working.
So! Comments for Bean:
1) I like the new chapter a lot, and I like how you're diving right into the story without too much description and set up. I like that it gets going right away. Description is fine, but I've got to care about what's being described before I want to hear all about it. Good for you - keep it up!
2) Who is Cookie?
3) I'll make it a point to re-read the 1st three Wrinkle books, and then try Many Waters. You know, maybe that's why I remember what a mitochondria is, for my Biology class.
4) SOMA sounds cool!
5) Hate to break it to you, but if you want to take a Pug jogging with you, you'd better get a jogging stroller.
6) I hope your new "bowling ball bag" is included in your purse fetish. Or else I want it!! :)
Ok, I guess that's it for now.

You remember that one...
Remember when you were in college and there were a few older students in some of your classes? Some of them maybe were grad students, and some were your mom's age, and one or two were maybe 10 years older, not old enough to be age-peers with the teachers, but enough older to be, like, older, man.
And remember how annoying they were? They always had the chapter read BEFORE the lecture, and they always seemed interested in the class, they always asked questions in class, and they always threw off the curve. Oh how we hated them. The nerve of those people! The nerd of those people! There's something pretty suspicious about people like that.
And now, I'm one of those people. The girl who sits next to me in my Biology lecture is the same age as everyone else (except me, of course), and she's NINETEEN years old. Almost nineteen, actually! We had our first test on Tuesday. I got there a little early, and I was sitting in the classroom with the other students, and we were all talking about what we thought might be on the test. I turned to the couple sitting behind me, "did you read those couple of pages in Chapter 18 he assigned? I think he might have given us the wrong page numbers..." Nope, they hadn't read them. In fact, apparently I was the only one who noticed that he'd made a mistake on the syllabus, and assigned a couple of pages from a section we hadn't even begun to cover. That made me wonder. Did any of them read any of the chapters he'd assigned? Am I an old nerd or what?
Well, nerd, yes. Old, maybe. But I know the secret of the older students now. We have an edge, and it is four-fold:
1) Usually we're paying for school, not our parents. That makes a big difference.
2) We're here because we have very specific goals we want to accomplish. We're not just here because "that's what you do after high school," like I was when I got my BA. Obviously, or I wouldn't have gotten a degree in Theatre! We're here because we want to get accepted into a grad school or teaching program or proffessional program, and this is just the first step on a road we're ready and willing to work hard at.
3) We've had time off from school. In other words, we're not sick to death of school. After 13 straight years of going to school, who wouldn't be sick of it by the time you get to college? We've also had to make our way in the real world for a few years, and we're sick of THAT! We're so sick of it we're willing to study with every free moment if it means that in 4 years we can lead a much more fulfilling and comfortable life. We're EXCITED to be here.
4) Some older students, myself included, are only taking one class at a time. We take a class in the evening so we can work full time during the day. Even though we may have less free time than some students, we also have only ONE class to read chapters for and ONE test to study for and ONE paper to write and ONE class to absorb.
So I suppose it should come as no surprise, but I'm delighted just the same....
I got 100% on my first Biology test!
Man I'm old, man I'm a nerd. And MAN I ROCK!

Monday Manners
From the chapter "In Dress and Personal Habits."
Don't use hair-dye. The color is not like nature, and deceives no one.
Sorry Jellybean. I hate to tell you, but your blue hair didn't fool anyone - we knew you're not a natural blue-head.
