The Question of the Ages

Why am I here? No really, why am I still here? It's after five on friday and EVERYONE else has gone home. But I'm supposed to work until 5:30. And you just KNOW my boss will call at 5:27...

Come On, You Can Tell Me....Is My Penis Too Small?

Every day this week I've gotten at least 20 or more spam emails advertising penis enlargement. Why all the sudden concern? I mean, it's true, my penis is just about as small as you can get. But I ain't hearing any complaints, ya know what I'm sayin'?

Really, why all the ads all of a sudden? What list did I somehow get myself on. And can this kind of spam really work? That's what I find truly alarming. I guess it must be effective, or they wouldn't be sending all this spam out.

Or maybe it's just me. Maybe my penis really is too small!

This Can't Be Done

I fell asleep last night trying to decide on my Top Five Favorite Musicals. I don't think it's possible to cut it down to five. But I'll try:

1. My Fair Lady. If for no other reason than this movie was the movie that more than any other that made me want to be an actress, when I was a wee lass.
2. Hair. The movie, not the play. Although, if you're looking for the cd, get the cast album, not the soundtrack.
3. Bugsy Malone. Another absolute childhood favorite that figures heavily in my formative years. If you haven't seen it, it's fantastic.
4. Jesus Christ Superstar. Again, a favorite as a child. My parents have a fond memory of walking in on me when I was barely old enough to talk, in the family room belting out 'Ho-sanna, Hey-sanna" at the top of my wittle wungs.
5. Chicago. This is the movie that most recently has made me want to be an actress again. Dammit! Why wasn't I in that movie?!

Ok, that's all well and good. But what about Into the Woods? The Music Man? Little Shop of Horrors? The movie Annie? Mary Poppins? And of course, A Hard Day in Fern Patch? Seriously, folks. I don't really feel good about this at all. But what can I do?

How Stupid I Have Been

Ok ok ok. You got me. Bringing up Baby is OBVIOUSLY in my top five movies. Just for Cary Grant in the fluffy pink bathrobe, if nothing else! And it has George who's really Asta who is really Skippy who is such a gooood boooy! And it has the best of the best of the Cary/Kate patter that I love so much. And it has them singing together. Thank you all, for steering me straight.

Now I want to go watch it!

Top 5 Favorite Old Movies

(in no particular order - that would kill me)

1. Rear Window
2. The Philedelphia Story
3. The Great Escape
4. It's a Wonderful Life
5. ???

Apparently, I really like Jimmy Stewart. I haven't decided on 5 yet. Either I've seen it and I am totally forgetting about it, or I haven't seen it yet. I thought about Bringing Up Baby, about other Hitchcock films like NxNW or The Trouble With Harry, or To Kill a Mockingbird, but I can't seem to put them in the top 5. I've seen lots of good good good old movies, but I decided that if I can't without-a-doubt-no-question-fer-shur put it in my top 5, it doesn't belong there. Any ideas of great old movies I might be forgetting? Or recommondations of some I should see?

Happy Valentine's Day. Really.

No I'm not being snide. I like Valentine's Day. I like ALL holidays. So there. I like going to the grocery store and seeing men walking out with a bundle of flowers or a big ol' balloon. I always smile at those guys and think "Good going." Little effort can go a long way. I like knowing it's a special day. I like getting a little surprise ready for my honey, it makes me feel good to be doing something special. This year I made him two bars of his favorite kind of soap. I like having a nice dinner with flowers and wine and candelight. I like having a reason to get dressed up. Any reason to celebrate is AOK with me!

Yes, if you're single I can understand why you wouldn't be a fan of Valentine's day. (Then again, just cause you're not irish doesn't mean you can celebrate Saint Patrick's day.) Everyone likes getting a valentine, and everyone has someone they love, friends family, whatever. You can all be my Valentine!

I also know a lot of people who don't like Valentine's day cause it's commercial. Or because you should have special times with your loved ones all year long. Well, I think Valentine's day is as commerical as you buy into. This year, Andy and I had a yummy homecooked meal with wine and flowers and candlelight. We put on nice clothes, we went out for cocktails, then we rented Casablanca. (We also watched the NBA All-Star Saturday Night, which I know I know, really doesn't sound that romantic, but hey we wanted to watch it and we had fun! So we're weird. I know.) We didn't spend much more money than we normally would have on a Saturday night, but it was still a special evening. And I loved it.

And yes, we should appreciate each other all year long, just like you should appreciate your mother all year long, and not just on Mother's day. But what's wrong with taking a special day just to make a big deal about how great mom is? And what's wrong with taking a special day to celebrate your love?

Anyway, I had a great time this weekend. I hope you did too!

Monday Manners

From the chapter "In Dress and Personal Habits"

Don't neglect the small hairs that project from the nostrils and grow about the apertures of the ears - small matters of the toilet often overlooked.

All too often, if you ask me. I know a few fellas in particular who would do well to take this advice.
