Still Sore?

I just realized I haven't update my iMood in quite some time. It says that I'm "sore". Well, considering how hard I've been training, that's pretty much a fact of life anymore. Today's not so bad, but that's because I haven't biked those hills and run those others hills yet. No, that's what I'm doing after work.

So, Krizzer, how's the training going, anyway? I can practically hear you all wondering this. Well, I'll tell you. Some days I'm so proud of myself, look at me I kick butt. And then there are other days. Days when my jeans still feel tight, or when I'm sore, or when I just can't make it around that damn lake without stopping to walk. Those are frustrating days. And it's tough, because I haven't seen much in the way of outward proof of my strenuous efforts. I've been pushing myself. I've really been pretty damn good! And I can tell that I can DO more. I can run farther. I can run faster. But I haven't lost an ounce or an inch. And in just the right light I MIGHT be able to see some new muscle definition. Or maybe it's just wishful thinking. That's not WHY I'm doing this, exactly. But damn it, if I'm kicking my butt 4 times a week isn't it supposed to SHOW? What the heck?

Other than training, what have I been up to?

Well, school. I'm taking Microbiology this quarter. It's fun - we get to smear bacteria on all kinds of things. My lab partner is awesome, thank goodness. And we got our first test back yesterday. The first test is always an unknown, you never know what your teacher's testing style will be like. Well, apparently her style and my style got along fine, cause I got 200 out of 200 on the test. Can't complain about that!

I've been watching some of the NBA playoffs, when I get the chance. My team, the Sonics, did NOT make the playoffs. Far from it. So now I'm just rooting for whoever's playing against the Lakers...kinda like the way I feel about the upcoming presidential election. Whoever's playing against Bush.

And I just finished reading The Divinci Code. OK, talk about a page-turner. I'm not that fast of a reader (AKA: I don't read for very long intervals usually. I'm usually pretty tired before I go to bed, so I can't stay awake to read for very long. So it often will take me a while to finish a book. That's how I'm slow. Not the other way - the rate at which my eyes pass over the words isn't especially slow. Just wanted to clear that up.) and I devoured that book in just a few days. I highly recommend it - it's a cross between a mystery and a treasure hunt, with some food for thought thrown in. That's all I'll say.

Yep. Oh yah, and I've been working full-time as usual. BO-RING! But hey look, it's five o'clock!!! Time to go conquer the hills....

Monday Manners

From the chapter "In the Drawing Room."

Don't in company open a book and begin reading to yourself. If you are tired of the company, withdraw; if not, honor it with your attention.

I like that. How'd you like to be over for dinner at a friends house, and they suddenly pull out a book and start reading? Ummmm...hint? As in, go home now?
