Race Results
Yay! The race results are up! Turns out I kicked BUTT on the running leg, which totally surprised me, since that came last, and it's my weak area. But I did it in less than 26 minutes, which means I was running less than a 10 minute mile. I know, to some of you that may not sound fast, but for me, I thought I was doing a 10 minute mile on my GOOD days. So I'm astounded I beat it when I was that tired!
Race results, with split times, can be found here. You'll want to click on "Recreational Female Triathlon." I'm the gal who came in 158th out of 213 women. Like I said, no record setter, but I surpassed my goal! (*Note, for those of you who know Alisa, she competed on a 3-person team, in the swimming leg. I think her team name was "Whatcom Wildcat Women," if you want to look her up!)
One photo, of me "in action" can be found here. It was taken by the official race photographers, and you have to pay for it, which I did - but I still don't have an electronic version that doesn't have the writing over it. Anyway, you get the gist.
And in case you're wondering, I'm still sore. I was planning on resuming training yesterday, after all, the Danskin race is coming up SOON! But I gave up on that idea right away. Instead, Andy and I went swimming at Lake Padden, like, fer FUN after work. Which is something I've been wanting to do for a couple of weeks. It was fun, and I think I loosened my muscles up a bit. I might get back at it today. The Danskin swim is twice as long as I'm used to, so I'd better get working on it, I only have about 6 weeks left! So much for the post-race blues!

Monday Manners
From the chapter "In Speech,"
Don't use the wrong adjectives. There is perhaps no adjective so misused as "elegant." Don't say "an elegant morning," or an "elegant piece of beef," or "an elegant scene," or "an elegant picture." This word has been so vulgarized by misuse that it is better not to use it at all.
God, that is so true. Seems like that's all I ever hear anymore, elegant elegant elegant. How vulgar.
