Wild Frickin' Kingdom Part II
The big black bird is back, and this time I had my binoculars pre-focused. It's a turkey vulture. Gross!

Wild Frickin' Kingdom
Sitting at my desk this morning, something large a dark and moving caught my eye, so I glanced out the window. There in the field, perhaps twenty feet away stood a bald eagle, feasting on what has turned out to be a dead possum. This guy was huge! I, of course, notified everyone in the office so they could come check him (or her, I suppose, since both male and female bald eagles have white heads) out. By the time we'd rounded up a camera and some batteries that still had charge in them, the eagle had flown off. We saw him circling overhead, being pesterd by a couple of crows (Aside: why is it whenever you see a hawk or an eagle soaring, it is always being pestered by a couple of crows? I see it all the time! You'd think the raptor would make a quick snack out of the pesky birds, but the crows seem to have no fear. And what is it crows have against hawks and eagles anyway?)
Now, sitting at my desk enjoying my turkey caeser salad, I noticed a new shape out the window, standing where the eagle had been. This was another large, dark bird, but I couldn't tell exactly what it was, it didn't have a white head. A quick trip outside to my coworker's truck earned us a pair of binoculars, but naturally, just as I'm getting the things in focus, the big bird flew off. Judging by its size and shape, and the fact that its head looked red, I'd say it was a vulture. Ewww.
Then, as we were standing outside, watching the vulture fly around, we nearly got dive-bombed by a couple of hawks! What the hell is going on with the birds today!!?
