Got My "I" on You

New game from Bitterspice! She has assigned me a doozy of a letter. I get to do the letter "I".

Ten Words

The rules: Comment on this entry and I will give you a letter. Write ten words beginning with that letter in your journal, including an explanation what the word means to you and why, and then pass out letters to those who want to play along.

Indiana - the state in which my Grandma lives. Also the state in which I lived for a year when I was in the 6th grade. There are things I miss and things I don't, but I mostly miss the fireflies.

Injection - something they will teach me in Dental Hygiene school. I will learn how to give strangers shots in the mouth! How cool is that!?

Ice milk - what I grew up eating instead of ice cream. Just like ice cream only with less fat. As a kid, I never knew the difference, I loved ice milk. I don't know why my mom bought it though, was she worried about our weight (we were all skinny kids) or was it simply cheaper?

Indebted - what I just became even more of last weekend when I bought my car. And what I will become even more more of this fall when I start school. I just found out how much I am elligble to borrow for school yesterday, and it is actually more than I thought. Which is a good thing! So I should be fine on money while I'm in school, which is a big relief!

Indeed - a word that makes me laugh. I had a friend several years ago who was very much a stoned-out hippie musician, but who used the word "indeed" constantly in conversation. I think he thought it made him sound smarter. Actually, it did NOT make him sound smarter, in fact, it was one of those things that once you noticed it, it was all you could hear when he talked to you.

Independence Day - a movie I saw at the drive-in on July 4th, and everyone honked their horns and cheered and howled when the aliens bought it. Also, one of my favorite holidays. I love watching the big fireworks, and especially hearing the big BOOMs. And I love barbecues and lawn games and sunny weather and all that Jazz. AND.......! This year, it is the day before I meet up with Stennie and Flipyscab in VEGASSSSSSSS!!!!!!

Indian burn - something we used to give each other as kids. They hurt, by the way! And I was wondering if there is another name for them now, in this age of PC language. Native American burns? Or something else entirely. Or maybe the whole wrist-twisting business is a thing of the past? Do kids still give each other Indian burns anymore?

Inigo Montoya - my favorite character from my favorite book of all time - The Princess Bride. If you haven't read the book, you MUST read the book. The movie is wonderful, but the book is all that wonderfulness times a million.

Instrument - could mean musical instrument, of which I play several (piano, guitar, voice, recorder, and I'm learning the violin) or could mean medical instruments. My instrument issue for school will run me almost $7,000. Pricey little buggers!

Intracostal clavical - What they keep madly running around searching for in Bringing up Baby. The words suggest it's a collar bone that sits inside the ribs? Not exactly sure what this could possibly be - but I don't know a lot about dinosaur anatomy. Better leave it to Dr. Bone.

Bye Bye Love

Well, not really love. Bye-bye Netstats. Stennie says they were giving me a case of the pop-ups. So gone they go! And really, did I ever scroll way down to the bottom of the page to see how popular I am? No. So who cares.

I'm on Board

I want to do the Google Image Meme from good old Stennie but only on the condition that it doesn't overshadow my BIG NEWS! So you have to promise to scroll down and read the next blog entry after you're done with this one. Promise? Well ok then! Let's get started!

I'm supposed to go to Google Image Search and select the picture I like best from the first page of results, when I enter the terms:

1. The city and state (or province) of the town you grew up, no quotation marks.
2. The town where you currently reside.
3. Your name, first and last, but again, no quotes.
4. Your grandfather's name.
5. Your favorite food.
6. Your favorite drink.
7. Your favorite smell.

So let's see...

1. Search term: Bellingham, Washington

This is tough already. There were a bunch of nice pictures of the old Belly, and I almost used the one of the huge smoke plume from the pipeline explosion a couple of years ago. BUT, I'd never seen this picture before and I think it's a cool shot. Shows how much we really sit at the feet of Mt. Baker.

2. Search term: Bellingham, Washington

Ha-HAA suckers! I still live in my home town! I get to use the Pipeline Explosion picture after all! I remember seeing this on my way to go on a bike-ride with my dad. When I met up with him he was mad I was late. But DAD! I had to go check out the explosion! I had to see what was burning. This man should understand. This is the man who woke up three toddlers in sleepers and bundled us in the car at 2 am so we could go watch Uniflight burn down.

You can STILL see the scarred and burned swath where the fire shot down Whatcom creek. The green is coming back, but the black still lingers.

3. Search term: Michelle Kriz

No, this isn't me but I wish it was. Actually, I don't know if Michelle Kriz is the girl or the doggie, but what a cute doggie!!!

4. Search term: Ralph S. Waldo

Well, this is not my grandfather. As you can probably guess, this is Ralph Waldo Emerson. But he looks like a nice old dude and he's probably somebody's grandfather. Maybe even my great great great great Grandfather. I wonder...

5. Search term: sushi

All I can say is OH MY GOD!!! My mouth is literally watering. When's lunch?

6. Search term: lemon drop

What this has to do with a frothy icy glass of lemony goodness I don't know, but look! Someone's strangling a cat!

7. Search term: thimbleberry

Mmmmm! Looks like that one's ripe! I love this smell - it's fresh and natural and clean smelling, and it reminds me of being a kid and playing in the woods behind my house.

This was fun! Now read the next post!!!

New Ride!

I HAVE A NEW CAR!!!

Yes, that's right. I can actually drive to Seattle without having to call AAA for a tow home. I no longer leave oil/power steering fluid leaks on the driveway. I have turn signals that work even if you're not holding them in just the right spot. I have power everything and it's wonderful. I have a car that's only three years old, instead of over twenty. What a lucky girl I am!

It has no name yet. Still thinking on that one. But it's a dark blue 2003 Ford Focus Wagon with 50,000 miles on it. And it's clean and nice and it's an automatic which will be perfect for driving in Seattle traffic jams. Ain't it a beaut?

I'm so excited, I keep offering to run errands for people. Need anything from Portland? Arizona? Massachusettes? I'll run and get it for you! If I get tired on the drive, I'll just fold down the seats and sleep in the back! It'll be so great for moving. And we've already thrown the bikes on the rack and gone on a long ride. So what if Andy says it looks like a minivan. I think it's cute. Now...Flipsycab, Stennie...your turn!
